Context:
Mgoes sees many people combining dozens of daily actions and 50+ supplements into an elaborate routine. That’s great, but the issue is that nobody (including BJ!) can truly tell which of these actions are significantly contributing to wellness and which are not (or only marginally). It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that more is better.
Mgoes's approach is different. He rigorously tests new interventions and eliminates anything that doesn’t have clear evidence of making a significant contribution to his health. Each intervention must quantifiably and consistently show up in his biomarkers, so he ends up cutting most things he tries.
Part of the reason for this is that he’s extremely busy and seeks actions with 10-100x leverage compared to the rest, maximizing his short daily opportunity window. You could call it a minimalist approach.
The Protocol
- Resistance training 3x a week + cardio 2x a week
- 7 hours of sleep per night in a cool room (21°C)
- Omnivore diet with high protein (25%) and low carbs (<30%). He cooks 5x a week using fresh ingredients (the specific dishes don’t matter, as long as they fit the macro composition and include some greens). The rest of the time, he allows himself some flexibility
- Key supplements: creatine, L-citrulline, magnesium, multivitamin, omega-3, ginseng, and ashwagandha1
- Get up and walk, move, or breathe at least once an hour while working, or more often if feeling stressed (never push through stress)
- Focus on activities that bring joy. Break any of the above rules if the right occasion calls for it (he drinks alcohol in moderation 1-2x a week, sometimes smokes hookah, or stays up late)
